Portraits
I often think that getting a portrait taken is a way of believing in the future… a way of leaving something of yourself behind that can touch future generations in a meaningful way. When I look at old pictures, it helps me understand the past and it’s relationship with the present.
Modern portrait photography is a way of recording moments in time, and in a sense recording our own private histories. It has always been my desire to create images that are symbolic and meaningful as well as beautiful.
To me, a good portrait tells a story… when I‘m looking through my camera I’m trying to unravel the mystery of my subject… who is this person? what interests them? What are those unique combination of qualities that make them who they are? This spontaneous inquiry forms the foundation of my portrait work, and results in images as unique as my subjects.
